The Solar Irrigation System has an ingenious solar pump, which automatically regulates the amount of water it pumps i.e. it pumps the most water when the sun beats down, which is exactly when your plants need it. Install a Irrigatia Solar Irrigation System and it will never forget to water, so it is a great way of watering while you are on holiday. The system consists of a solar panel, battery and pump, which distributes water from YOUR water butt to your plants through drippers just like a traditional irrigation system. The solar pump is fixed above the water butt in a sunny position. If your water butt is in the shade, simply position the pump in the sun and insert the feed hose into the water butt. The Water Wand then waters your plants automatically with the amount of water pumped dependent on 2 factors – the amount of sunshine and the position of the control knob which can be adjusted to water large or small plants. The system works well and kept hanging baskets, troughs etc. well watered while we were on holiday.
My best position for the pump, however, was short of sun. I have successfully (re)moved the solar panel aand mounted it in a sunnier spot. A few feet of cable and suitable connection fittings and it works perfectly.
My only criticism is the noise from the pump which is loud enough to be irritating. I’m working on a sound insulating box and suggest it might be an idea for the manufacturers to pursue.
