Full Description

The Hedgehog Haus is designed to look natural while providing a safe retreat for hedgehogs. It has a sturdy rust-proofed steel frame, covered with a water-proof felt lining, which is covered with a brush wood finish. It also features a wooden door incorporating a short predator defence tunnel – this provides easy access, while offering defence from dogs, badgers and foxes. The wooden entrance is made form FSC certified timber. 

Hedgehogs will use this Hedgehog Haus ALL YEAR ROUND, but they hibernate from November to April depending on the temperature. The shelter should be covered with additional twigs, branches and leaves in winter for extra insulation (at least 5cm) – other than this there is no maintenance necessary. The Haus offers hedgehogs and other mammals a safe retreat from predators such as badgers and foxes as well as safety from garden strimmer’s, forks, tools and pets. The small entrance tunnel is designed to deter predators such badgers and dogs. The Hedgehog Haus may be anchored down with ground pegs for extra security from boisterous pets or badgers. Site within cover out of the prevailing wind. Pile of leaves or foliage around the house will help to further camouflage it. Place cut short lengths of dry grass or leaves inside as nesting material. Measures 49cm × 38cm × 21 cm.
