Use Cabbage Zoot Off Granules to protect your cabbages and other brassicas i.e. cauliflower, broccoli, kale and brussel sprouts from the damage caused by root fly maggots. This granular product is applied to the surface of your soil AFTER the seeds have been sown / seedlings planted out to deter cabbage / parsnip root flies from laying their eggs. Cabbage Root Fly is a pest of all brassicas (cabbages, cauliflowers, etc) and root vegetables (turnip, swede and radishes). The fly lays eggs in the soil near the plants and when the eggs hatch the maggots feed on the plant roots. Older plants may survive an attack, but grow slowly and wilt on sunny days. Cabbages often fail to heart and cauliflowers form a tiny heads. Brassicas are particularly vulnerable as seedlings, as they can be be killed by the maggots. The maggots eat the fine roots and just leave a rotting stump, or when roots are swollen as in radish, swede and turnip, they will bore into the roots leaving an inedible mess.

Cabbage Zoot Off Granules are made from dried, crushed olive pommace (the dried left-overs from making organic olive oil) and aromatic Mediterranean herbs. Cabbage Zoot Off is made out of natural / non-toxic ingredients, is attractive in appearance, fragrant, biodegradable, safe to use and is totally safe for pets and wildlife. Apply to the surface of the soil after the seeds have been sown – the seedlings will grow through the layer of Zoot Off, but the root flies will be deterred. Simply re-apply to keep the layer of Zoot Off intact . Available in 1.7kg litre bags, simply apply 50ml around the base of each plant i.e. each bag will treat approx 60 plants.
