Great service at a good price

I have used Green Gardener products for a number of years. They supply a number of natural pest control options and I have tried several of them.

I have used nemaslug successfully for several years, also vine weevil control for adults and grubs. I have also tried encarsia in the greenhouse, adult ladybirds, larvae and lacewing larvae to control greenfly. All products that have worked well and benefitted the garden.

They provide a good and reliable service, particularly the two part delivery which ensures that you treat at the right time

I ordered ladybirds with some trepidation as to how they would travel and arrive safely – no need for worry. They arrived well packaged and with full instructions. They have worked well on the greenfly on fruit trees and roses and to our joy – remain in the garden.

I ordered some ladybirds and they arrived in good condition (despite a delay at the post office). They are hoovering up the aphids with great enthusiasm and my plants are thriving.

Ladybirds arrived promptly and all alive. Managed the aphid population very quickly. Ladybird barn proving a big hit as well. Have since spotted larvae amongst the vegetation. Big success in dealing with Aphid population without pesticides or chemicals. Will certainly be visiting site again regularly.

THis is a brilliant company to buy garden products from. I couldn’t believe how efficient the ladybirds were. I release them on my beans with blackfly, thought first of all that they were a bit slow ( unfortunately a lot of gardeners expect instant results) but they started breeding, laying eggs and turning into larva and then suddenly they just multiply and no matter how may aphids arrived ( sprays are too short lived) they sucked the beans dry of them and I had the best crop ever. I will certainly buy more of them if they fail to over winter although I now have little homes for them all around the garden so Im hoping they will survive. Other things ive bought have been great as well as I dont want anything in my garden that will poison the frogs or other insects. Unfortunately a lot of people still use pesticides and it kills all insect even the useful ones and spoils the food chain

This year I had an early infestation of blackfly on my runner beans. The ladybird larvae were very effective and soon cleaned up the plants. Now I have an excellent crop of beans. A few years ago I had a similar problem and the ladybirds again worked their magic. This method certainly works. I have also had success with the lacewing larvae.

I bought the ladybird larvae for use on nasturtiums and great water dock plant by my pond which were covered in aphids. I haven’t seen any ladybirds in years so wanted to help them make a comeback in my garden. I received a large amount of larvae and they have grown well even the larvae eat aphids I look foward to them growing into ladybirds

Bought ladybird larvae. Great predators – greenfly population severely reduced! They arrived very quickly too.

The ladybirds arrived quickly and in good condition. Still badly infested with aphids, although the ladybirds did a good job on the rose Bush I put them on, some aphids have come back to it. I think I need 500 ladybirds for my garden! It’s really bad this year. Thinking of buying a ladybird lodge to breed them!

I tried the ladybird larvae because my indoor chilli plants keep getting infested with aphids. I had a few questions before buying so called and was advised to use the larvae rather than the adults. (very informative lady on the phone was extremely helpful) The larvae have eaten most of the aphids now and are turning to adult stage so very happy with them so far and hoping they will stick around, in fact I even got the ladybird barn to keep them safe throughout the winter). Excellent and I highly recommend. ????

I bought Ladybird larvae. They arrived promptly and alive and my roses are now thriving again thanks to them. Highly recommend Green Gardener.

Excellent. Easy to order and fast delivery. The small paper bags made it easy to place on plants. And they are voracious eaters….greenfly well under control.

  20. Jon (verified owner)

Bought a box of ladybird larvae. They must have good appetites as the blackfly appear to have diminished.

  21. Robert (verified owner)

My annual purchase of ladybirds arrive and they are happily munching on the greenfly! I also ordered some ladybird larvae. Unfortunately, only two or three large ones arrived because of the delay in the post. I learned from Green Gardiner that they had eaten each other! Anyway, sure enough a new box arrived two days later with loads of little ones ready to tackle the greenfly on my roses. Great service, great concept! Go Green Gardener!

  22. Anonymous (verified owner)

Quick delivery and as described. The ladybird larvae were well packed and the addition of little bags to distribute them was very helpful. We’ll have to see how well they chomp our invasion of aphids!

“Ladybird larvae purchased. Quick despatch. Easy application of larvae using pouches. Will use again. And of course ladybirds brought balance back to controlling aphid population explosion in our veg garden.

  31. John (verified owner)

I have 31 runner bean canes and at the end of June realised that I had a massive incidence of black fly aphids. I ordered Lady Bird Larvae from Green Gardner and also had a long telephone conversation with a lady at the company who gave me very helpful advice. At first it seemed that the aphids would overwhelm the runner beans and that I might have to spray them. However 100 Ladybird larvae proved to be very successful and after 2 weeks started to mature into Ladybirds. I believe the majority of the larvae did survive and grow and I am very happy with the outcome. I would add that the larvae should be deployed in the cooler evening as opposed to the hot sunny part of the day.”

  46. Christine (verified owner)

I ordered some ladybirds as a birthday present for my sister. They arrived very promptly and looked to be in good condition, none of them appeared to be stressed by their journey. The instructions received with them were very clear. My sister was delighted!

  47. Frances (verified owner)

I have had excellent service from Green Gardener,I ordered Ladybirds, and this year lacewings as well. They arrived promptly, all alive and well, I enjoy watching these little bugs laying eggs, turning into larvae and finally new ladybirds. So much more satisfying and entertaining than spraying poison everywhere just to kill a few blackfly and ants. Everything in my garden has its purpose and I will order ladybirds from this company every year even if some of them as my husband repeatedly informs me fly off into other nearby gardens.

  48. Claire (verified owner)

I ordered ladybirds to help with a black fly problem on my french beans. Arrived quickly with clear instructions; very happy with the purchase. Would recommend.

  49. Iain (verified owner)

I’ve been using Green Gardener for some time now preferring to use biological means to control pests in the garden. My younger grand children ask to help when the ladybird delivery arrives which is also a very good way to help with their education. We have hedgehogs visiting regularly so chemical control is a non-starter and GG has everything needed to assist. The fact that the price you see on the website is the price you pay – no hidden extras which hit you at the checkout – which I find refreshing. The variety of remedies and equipment is continually expanding which must be good for us and the environment. If there’s a problem with anything you are kept informed and offered alternatives if practical. Despatch is invariably swift with e-mails advising the despatch occasionally arriving after the order has arrived. Highly recommend GG to anyone considering using natural remedies for problems in the garden.

How can there be reviews from Jan 2021 if they are available April till August? Seems like your doing dodgy reviews mate!

    • Jon

Thanks for the message and we re-did the website in January, so any reviews from the old site from last year that were migrated over will have Januarys date. We only use our own genuine reviews. Kind regards Jon @ Green Gardener

I ordered 25 adult ladybirds to tackle aphids on my newly planted roses. Delivery was quick and all but 2 were alive. It took a little patience to release them as I wanted to put some on each of my rose bushes, I found that placing a ladybird near to an aphid more effective than trying to place them on a lower leaf by some water droplets….I guess mine were more hungry than thirsty! I was delighted to see them begin to eat the aphids upon release and have already seen a decline in aphid numbers after only a few days. Will definitely consider ordering again if my current batch fly away.

  52. Eliza

Thank you so very much for my ladybirds! For some reason I didn’t believe they’d arrive at all. Not to mention alive, safe and sound! What an amazing purchase! And what a great alternative to chemical pesticide control! Also thank you for a very useful leaflet that gave me all the information I needed. I’m looking forward to see in a few weeks what miracles my ladybugs did!

  53. Mandy Macready

Very quick delivery and ladybirds were alive and well.

  54. Kate

I bought some Ladybird larvae to tackle a massive greenfly problem on my rose. The leaves were sticky and the buds/ new leaves were covered in greenfly. I had tried all sorts of sprays but nothing worked. After a week of releasing them on the plant, the greenfly were practically gone and the rose is flourishing. Will definitely buy again

    • Jon

Thanks for the feedback and it is amazing how quickly they work. Kind regards Jon @ Green Gardener

  55. Sarah Jamieson

Wow that was really prompt, great service, thank you!
I look forward to herding ladybirds again another year.

  56. Trevor (verified owner)

Ladybirds arrived all alive and well but were smaller than expected. Placed them all into a ladybird house with water droplets on the outside hoping they would tackle the aphids in my greenhouse. Ladybirds dispersed quickly and not onto my plants with pests. Wouldn’t recommend as a solution to treat aphids.

    • Jon

Thanks for the message and it is totally normal for the ladybirds to disperses once you release them, so they can get on with their job i.e. eating and breeding. They We would normally recommend using Larvae to control an aphid problem in a greenhouse as they will stay on the infected plants i.e they cannot fly away. Kind regards Jon @ Green Gardener

  57. Alison Young (verified owner)

I ordered a supply of adult ladybirds and was very pleasantly surprised to take delivery of them within 2 days. All animals were in great condition, well packaged and looking healthy. I’ve released them on to my aphid ridden plants and they’re munching away on them. Thank you for your very prompt delivery and great service.

  58. Louise

Thanks very much. We really enjoyed releasing them all onto the plants and encouraged them into the bug house. They have protection from a zipped trough cover so hopefully we might manage to keep them around for a while!

  59. Lesley Griffiths (verified owner)

I bought 25 ladybirds a few weeks ago to clear a thick infestation of aphids on what had been, but was no longer due to the aphids, a beautiful clematis. Initially I was disappointed as the day after release I could see no ladybirds, despite hoping that they would be visibly feeding on the aphids. I even wondered whether they had died or decided to live in another garden. I needn’t have worried! About 10 days later, I realised that all the aphids on the clematis had disappeared which I can only put down to the ladybirds. Brilliant!

  60. CALLUM LAWSON (verified owner)

Ordered 25 Lady Birds and received 25 Lady Birds all alive and now out on my tree which has spruce aphids in abundance so hopefully they will get a good welcome feed.
    Great service and prompt delivery.
    Thank you very much.

  61. Susan High (verified owner)

Very happy with my purchases of biological pest prevention so far. Ladybirds were healthy and have remained in the garden to help massacre the growing aphid army!

  62. Julia

The ladybirds I ordered are earning their keep! We had a bumper crop of aphids this year and the population has noticeably reduced since the ladybirds arrived. I have also spotted several clutches of eggs and new larvae this week!

  63. Helen Willis (verified owner)

I ordered 25 ladybirds and they were delivered in perfect condition and with excellent instructions. I am pleased to add that they were very hungry and sorted the aphid problem on my lupins!

  64. Jutta Fitzpatrick (verified owner)

Ordered some Ladybirds as I had a lot of Greenfly on my plants. Although I can’t see the Ladybirds the pest seems to be diminished. Result and no chemicals thanks Green Gardener.

  65. J Elmslie order number 108681

The two packets of larvae took a few days to arrive. Went out immediately to open the first packet and not a living thing to be seen in it. Tried the second packet and identified about 7 or 8 minute black crawly things. Transferred to my desperately waiting tomato plants but they didn’t seem interested in eating the aphids and by the following morning the aphids had multiplied and the wriggly things had vanished. Not much use in my opinion so I might try adult ladybirds from another company as this was a total waste of money. Unlikely you will publish this either but I can’t believe all those 5 star ratings are true.

    • Jon (verified owner)

Thanks for the message and how strange that both packs failed as they are normally very reliable hence the good reviews. I suspect they may have been delayed in the post and that is why you got such poor results. Can you email me (jon@greengardener.co.uk) and let me know if you would like to try another lot, some adults instead or have a refund and I will organise it. As already mentioned they are normally very reliable, so please let us send you some more and I am sure these will arrive ready to tuck into your aphids. I publish reviews good and bad, so hopefully your next review of ladybirds will be good. Kind regards Jon @ Green Gardener

  75. nyesteannamaria (verified owner)

We are super happy. I’ve got the ladybirds the second morning after I did my order with first class. I put them together with my plant what I want to save from the aphids (bear’s garlic). They started to eat them straight away and I also gave them a fresh picked elderflower because when I cut the flower I saw some similar creatures on in then the aphids just dark colour. It looks the ladybirds like this dark creatures to eat too. My 4 years old enjoys to watch them too, we put the ladybirds into our butterfly pop-up net. We are exiting to see the eggs later. Thank you very much

I ordered ladybirds to help handle the blackfly eating my cherry blossom tree – I didn’t want to buy anything that might hurt the bees that come to my garden, and this seemed like an excellent solution. The ladybirds arrived just a few days after I ordered, I ordered one lot of 25, of which only 1 was dead on arrival, which is actually miraculous because our postman didn’t bother to hand the parcel to us, leaving out on the step in the heat without notifying us of it’s presence, so they were outside in a heatwave all packed up for most of a day and still mostly came out unscathed. We opened the box beneath the tree after ensuring the leaves were wet as directed, and sure enough, they gradually made their way up and around and before long were happily munching on the pests. 1000/10 will be buying again in future.
