Watering Soil Blocks made with a Soil Block Maker
Q. The compost block maker. Surely, when you water the compost/seedlings, won’t the block collapse? From Sue by email
A. Thanks for the message and once the compost is compressed as a very wet lump of compost and allowed to dry a bit it is remarkably stable, so then normal watering is OK. However if you do water heavily then there is a chance that they will collapse a bit, so we recommend watering the blocks gently i.e. with a watering can fitted with a fine rose or watering them from below i.e. by standing them in trays of water. I hope this helps. Jon @ green Gardener CLICK HERE to find out more about Soil Block Makers.
