Customer Question – Nemaslug Temperature and Depth
Q. “Now the soil is warming up, I want to apply nemaslug as soon as it is appropriate. At what depth in the soil does the temperature need to be above 5 Celsius?”Rgds Peter Bird
A. Thanks for the message and you need a daytime soil temperature of 5c (it does not matter if the temperatures drop at night as long as it is not freezing) and you want the temperature to 5cm. Most slugs move across or through the upper layers of the soil, so as long as the nematodes can soak to wherever the slugs are hiding the treatment will work. Normally early March is a good time to start treating, but the recent warm weather (16c today!) means a lot of people are already ordering. I hope this helps Kind regards Jon @ Green Gardener.
