Customer Question – Is this Scale Insect?
Q. “Hello, I have a curry leaf plant that has a very bad case of what I think is scale insects. Photo is attached. When I first got it it had red spider mites but I managed to remove them. I only have one plant and I keep it well away from any other plants. What can I treat this with. The are covered in little brown scales and lots of clear sticky fluid. The plant has of course hardly grown.” Kind regards Lynda Gilbert
A. Thanks for the message and yes is a very bad case of Scale Insect. Because it is just the one plant I would recommend using SB Invigorator natural spray rather than Scale Nematodes as this is ideal for treating one off plants or where you have a really heavy infestation. You can use this spray to control most insect pests including scale and spider mite but it is chemical free so it is safe to use on all plants. Spray 3 times at 3 day internals initially to kill the pest and wash away the sticky honeydew. Simply re-spray as needed to clear the pest. You can then keep the rest for any future pest problems.
