Customer Question – Daddy Long Legs casings?
Q. “Hi there we’ve been seeing quite a few daddy long legs and I’ve also seen a few casings in the grass over the past week or so (picture below), I just wondered, after seeing these, when would be the best time to treat? Thank you very much.” Alison Farrar
A. Thanks for the question and we recommend treating with Leatherjacket Nematodes two weeks after a peak of the crane flies / daddy long legs activity to target young leatherjackets, which will hatch within 2 weeks of the eggs being laid and will immediately start feeding close to the soil surface. Adult emergence normally occurs in August/ September (main peak).
