Box Tree Caterpillar Decimation
Q. “Hi, My box hedge has been decimated by these beasts, first noticed a funny smell the other day and then all the leaves got eaten! Found in Kidderminster, Worcestershire. Photos attached. I have chopped the hedge down. Please register my sighting with the tracker. “ from Sally in Kidderminster
A. Thanks for the pictures and this pest is spreading quickly. I am interested to see that you have caterpillars pupating (the last picture), so it looks like there was going to be another generation of moths this year. I have registered your sighting on the tracker and it looks like you have the 1st sighting of the caterpillars registered in Kidderminster. If you want to see the map showing all the sightings, please visit the Box Moth & Caterpillar Tracker.
