Customer Question – Viburnum Beetle
Q. “Hi I’ve got pests on the viburnum leaves. What insecticide do I need please?” from Mr B
A. Thanks for the message and we use Nemasys Fruit and Veg to target Viburnum beetle when it is as a larvae. Viburnum beetle overwinters as eggs that are deposited in the bark of stems in late summer by the beetles. It is the larvae which feed on the leaves, so when the larvae present (normally between May and September) then you can treat with Nemasys Fruit and Vegetable Protection sprayed 3 times at 7 day intervals to control them. I would also recommend you spray not only the larvae directly on the foliage with F&V, but also drench the soil with nematodes to treat the mature wandering larvae that may be now searching for a pupation site in the soil around viburnum plants – 3 applications at weekly intervals will give the best control. Please CLICK HERE to find out about Nemasys F&V for caterpillars which is the same application rates etc, so if you want to treat, order this product and apply 3 times at 7 day intervals or if you need more advice, please feel free to contact me / ring me (01394 420922).
