Customer Question – Stopping holes in cooking apples
Q. “My cooking apples always have holes eaten through them which is probably coddling moth larvae. Will Nemasys Fruit and Vegetable Protection fix this and how do I apply them if it will.” Thanks Annabel
A. Thanks for the message and you would use Nemasys Fruit and Veg to target the larvae living in the soil under the tree in the autumn, so in late Sept / Oct spray the truck, branches and the soil under the tree. In the meantime, the best way to control Codling Moth is to position a Codling Moth Trap (1 per 5 trees) in the tree to catch the moths BEFORE they lay eggs – please CLICK HERE to find out more about Codling Moth Traps. I hope this helps and let me know how your apples turn out this year. Kind regards Jon @ Green Gardener
