Parlour Palm Pest?
Q. “Hello, I have a pest on my parlour palm in my conservatory, but I’m not sure what it is (photo attached). Would you be able to suggest what it might be and advise the best method of control? Thank you very much in anticipation.”
A. Good morning. Thank you for your message and the pictures. It is hard to tell exactly what is going on but I think I can see very fine webbing around the leaf joints. Can you confirm there is webbing and if so it is spidermite. If you can confirm this and then I can advise on best treatment.
Q. “Hi, There is webbing, but I’m not sure what the black specks are. There are also thrips on another plant in my conservatory, and aphids on another! I tried to treat them last year and thought it had been partly effective, but they seem to have taken hold again! Is there anything that would work for all of them?” Thanks, Sarah
A. Thanks for the message and there isn’t a predator that will work for them all but our natural spray SB Invigorator will work. This will clear up spider mite, aphids and thrip. Spray a few times every 3 days to get on top of them and then just spray again as needed. Because it is chemical free you can then introduce some predators if needed.
