My last years 2021 bee shelter was a 100% full. very pleased with this result ,cant wait till spring 2022 to see them all emerge.

These were heavily used in my garden alongside a wooden bee house, however the cardboard tubes ended up very soggy after some bad weather (despite being in a sheltered location). The wooden bee house was exposed to the same conditions and fared much better – the following year the wooden bee house hatched a lot of bees and these tubes only hatched a few despite being full. I think part of the issue is I left the cardboard tubes in the plastic housing which prevented them drying out as well as the wood. Obviously there are ways around this but in future I’ll stick to the wooden houses, if only to reduce plastic waste (since you can’t buy the cardboard tubes without the plastic housing).
